Leica Q2
Last Year in August 2025 I got to take the Leica Q2 to the seaside, of course I chose the Reporter Edition because of the green finish and the aramid fibre grip. I mean it looked so sleek. I didn’t buy the Leica Q2 because I needed another camera. I bought it for the experience as I wanted to have a more simple approach to taking photos. I have owned the original Leica Q but found the 24 megapixels were a little limiting at times because I cropped in a lot. As Im much more used to 35mm. So in my head the upgrade to the Q2 made sense, I was now getting 47 megapixels which would be so useful for cropping.
I’m not a 28mm shooter like I mentioned but the fixed focal length forced me to move more, think differently and find compositions I hadn’t found before. While I found it a bit limiting (quite a lot actually) I took one of my favourite images to this day with it. And I only did because of 28mm.

In indoor settings I really got on well with the Q2. I realised this when I was having breakfast with my parents in an empty cafe. The light was shining really nicely on this red chair and I got up and took pictures of it for about 15 minutes. This was the first time I didn’t crop in with this camera I filled the frame completely and I would either of had to step back or potentially not have gotten the shot if I was shooting with a 35mm lens. So I realised 28mm isn’t a bad focal length I just wasn’t approaching scenes with it in the best way.

The Leica systems have what I think are the best menu systems out there. For a lot of photography first individuals anyway. There aren’t endless buttons and menus. Everything unnecessary is gone, what’s left is the experience of taking photos.
The lens is incredible, it’s got this look thats sharp but not clinical. At 1.7 the depth of field is so good I was obsessed with how it looked. All in all I thoroughly enjoyed my time with the Leica Q2 I do miss it, if I was to buy it again I would get the regular Q2 no special editions only to save some money.
